What are the Best Shutters to Buy? Read on and find out.

What are the best Shutters to buy is a question that I am asked a lot. And the answer is not always simple. There are a wide number of factors to take into consideration, and I am going to go through some of these here.

Quality of Build of Shutters

Quality of Build

We are passionate about always ensuring the quality of our Shutters. We only supply Shutters that we know have been manufactured to the highest quality. Many of ou r Shutters are manufactured using Mortise and Tenon Joints and have laminated or metal cores for rigidity and to help prevent warping. Our painted Shutters are sprayed with water-based paint with a protection element to slow down the damaging effects of UV in sunlight.

This attention to quality, is the reason we are confident to offer a 10-year guarantee on our Shutters.

Where will the Shutters be Fitted?

Considering where the shutters are to be fitted will have an impact on the best Shutter. For instance, if the Shutter is to be fitted in a Bathroom, then the best option would be a Polyvinyl Shutter such as our Herm Shutter. However, if installing in a child’s bedroom, then a durable MDF Shutter would be a better choice.

Size of your Windows makes a difference to the Best Shutters for the space.

Size of the Window

Our MDF Shutter, the Vazon, is a beautiful shutter, however it is one of the heavier options that we have. Vazon Shutters are ideal for smaller windows in areas where moisture is not a concern, however on larger windows, using a lighter Wooden Shutter such as our Fermain or Sark could be a better option.

If you want to regularly fold the shutters back off the windows, then using a Lighter weight Wooden Shutter would be a better solution as these will put less stress on the hinges. However, if you require privacy and so are more likely to tilt the louvres, rather than opening the doors daily, then the Vazon Shutter is an excellent solution.

The Best Shutter to buy will depend on the style of Shutter you want.

Style of Shutters Required

Heavier MDF or Polyvinyl Shutters are ideal for full height or Café Shutters. However, in most instances for Tier on Tier Shutters a lighter material is more suitable and better.

Colour Choice will also play a part in the best shutter choice. The Vazon range has a limited choice of our most popular colours, however the other ranges have more choice. In addition, should you be looking for a wood-stained finish, or even a custom colour, then our Sark Shutters would be the bet Shutter for you.

Budget

Budget will, of course, pay a part in finding out which Shutter is the best for you to buy. Shutters should be viewed as an investment. They will help with insulation, and, as a desirable addition to the windows, will help to make your house more appealing to prospective buyers. However, we all have budgets that we need to (or would like to) keep within. Therefore we, at Berkshire Blinds and Shutters, will always take this into consideration when we offer our advice, to help you make the best decision.
